Location research

For the location we will be going to a field by the BASC ground. We will be going there because it is plain fields and it is the scenery we will need for the shot. We will also have to ask permission to use the fields for filming. The fields are perfect for the filming we are aiming to do at 4’oclock in the afternoon. This will give the scene the foggy effect we want to make it look effective.

We decided to find somewhere close to home so that we wouldn’t have to travel as far, and wouldn't have to stay overnight. We were going to film in the Quantock Hills, but this is a very long drive from the school and we would have to stay overnight. Therefore we thought we would try somewhere different. We chose to film at the field instead, because it is within a sensible walking distance for all members of the group. As the area is quite distinct, we thought it would fit with our genre conventions perfectly. It is a lot closer to home and was more convenient for everyone involved in the trailer as they wouldn't have to travel as far.

In order to keep continuity within our filming, we needed the same sort of dark weather each day we filmed. After looking at the weather forecast and discussing which days we were all free to film, we decided to film on the time period of 4-6 o’clock at night because we need wet surfaces and dark skies to make it more effective. If we filmed in bright sunshine, this would not fit in with the physiological thriller genre conventions, and we could have to edit the lighting, however we are limited with software and editing tools.

The second place we chose to film will be in an alley way by the back of school. We will be using this because of the placement of street lights will give us an ideal lighting arrangement for the murder scenes in our opening sequence. The location is central for us all and easy to get to for our entire team member. We will hopefully have to visit this place once for the filming however if it takes for than one shoot we could handle it as it is an easy place to get too.
